Shakedown cruise
The moment we had been waiting for since the beginning of October: finally hoisting up the sails for the first time and feeling the boat slice through the Bay. A few "minor" inconveniences needed to be solved first. As the clutch cable broke on the previous evening, 1 crewmember -in clear and present danger right next to the moving parts of the engine- had to shift gears manually with a metal rod. This and the removal of a bird's nest from the back of the boom (giek). Buena Onda did really well, we love the way she sails. She's a big boat though, and we're gonna have to respect her. Luckily the weather was calm and we found a beautiful anchorage around sunset. Lieke's first day on board: so maybe women do bring luck on ships?
